Matthew Fox: No Parenting Advice for McConaughey

Having been a father for 10 years, one might assume Matthew Fox would have some great words of wisdom for father-to-be and his We Are Marshall co-star Matthew McConaughey, but he begs to differ.

“That’s a tough one,” Matthew tells OK! at the Vantage Point premiere. “Being a father is an individual experience and I wouldn’t really feel qualified to give anyone advice other than just trying to do the very, very best job you possibly can.”
Matthew and his wife Margherita Ronchi have two children together, daughter Kyle, 10 and son Byron, 7. Unlike some other celebrity clans, the family is rarely snapped together — a benefit of living in Hawaii, where the 41-year-old actor has been calling home since Lost started in 2004.

Matthew Fox Has Got a Fever, and the Only Prescription Is More Cow Balls!

During our extensive research in preparation for the premiere of the new thriller Vantage Point, we observed that Matthew Fox, the not-bad-to-look-at star of Lost, grew up on a horse ranch in Wyoming. We kept this in mind as we prepared to interview Vantage’s stars on the big night, thoughtfully studying our list of questions, prioritizing some and eliminating others (probably there would be technical difficulties involved in asking Mr. Fox to remove his shirt, for instance). By the time Matthew, who we will always remember as Charlie on Party of Five, reached us on the red carpet, he was overwhelmed by reporters with tape recorders. They all were assaulting him with questions about his role as a Secret Service agent. At a lull, we took a deep breath and jumped in with the number-one question on our finely honed list.

New York: Mr. Fox, you grew up on a horse farm?
Fox: On a ranch, yes. [Ed: Hey, we live in the city. We think every farmer has a "dell."]
New York: Then you must have eaten Rocky Mountain Oysters. [The reporters around us look perplexed. Why didn't we want to know what his summer plans were?]
Fox: [Grinning slightly] Yes, I have. They were very good.

Matthew Fox’s Designated Driver

Starring in Lost, where you’re never sure what lurks around the next palm tree or why, got Matthew Fox ready for Vantage Point. It’s a thriller that keeps replaying a presidential assassination from the varying viewpoints of everyone from the Secret Service to the assassins. “I think it’s provocative and timely,” Fox says, “the idea that one event can be perceived so differently by different people, depending on who they are and if they have an agenda. It’s always amazing to me how people can walk around thinking that the way that they see the world is the only way because it’s just not the truth.”

That’s about all we can say about Vantage Point without spoiling the surprises that keep on coming. I can tell you that Matthew is in the middle of a car chase, which is the longest and scariest since The Bourne Supremacy. But, he confessed he left the driving to the stunt guys. “I love getting behind the wheel, but it was just too intense,” he says.
